Behind the Design
Melanie Matthews
In March 2023, Melanie and her husband Chris bought a house that needed a lot of love.
Melanie had always wanted to remodel a home. She’d managed several small renovations for family and helped design two new homes with Chris, but had never undertaken a full-house renovation. When they found a 1979 Craftsman on four acres on the outskirts of town listed as a short sale, they couldn’t resist.
The remodel was the perfect chance to pursue her dream — and the design firm was born.
Naming the business was easy. Melanie grew up playing in a creek that ran through the countryside. Now living in Spanish Fort, AL, her home is surrounded by creeks, bays, rivers, and the Gulf Coast. Those waterways and childhood memories inspired the name Creek Coastal Home. From mossy bay green to emerald gulf, Melanie’s designs are influenced by the region’s beautiful water hues.
